Hiking Schedule

The hiking committee offers a variety of trips in the region. Upcoming activities are listed in part and briefly on the hiking and general events calendar. Please use the system query form below and the short notice email list for the most complete infromation. Except where noted, contact the chair or vice-chairs for additional details.

The Cape Cod Hiking Committee offers a variety of hikes and walks on Cape Cod. Most hikes are show-and-go (no pre-registration required). For non-Cape day hikes, please call at least one (1) week in advance to register. Except where noted, hikes are open to non-AMC members. Please refer to the Schedule section below to locate hikes.

All trips involve some risk. Participants assume responsibility for their welfare. Discuss your abilities with trip leader prior to the trip.

How to sign up for an SEM/AMC Hiking Trip

As of September 1, 2003, all participants in AMC activities are now required to sign the AMC waiver form provided by the leader.

Hike Schedule

For "Off-Cape" hikes, use the AMC online trip listing system query form to look up trips, then set the committee to"Hiking".

For Cape Hikes, please set the committee to "Cape Hikes" within the same query form.


Note: The Hiking Committee requests that dogs do not accompany hikers out of consideration for other members in the group.


Ratings

Please refer to these codes when choosing a hike through the query system.

Hike rating: First character indicates distance. Second character indicates leader's pace (average terrain). Third character indicates terrain.


Miles Pace/mph Terrain
AA=13 1=fast/2.5 A=v. stern.
A=9-13 2-fast/2.0 B=strenuous
B=5-8 3-mod/1.5 C=average
C=5- 4=leis/<1.5 D=easy

Non-club members MUST register for all trips.

Activity Participation Policy

"AMC encourages involvement in its mission and activities, through its membership, programs, policies and procedures. Our goal is to be a community that is comfortable, inviting and accessible for people of any age, gender, race, religion, ethnicity, ability, sexual orientation, or socioeconomic status.

Some AMC programs are designed for a certain age range of members or for a special activity or topic. However, any person who meets the minimum qualifications (skills, experience, fitness) established by the trip leader(s) for an activity is eligible to attend, if space is available."
