Coastal Public Access Locator The Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management has created an online mapping data viewer, which displays maps and site-specific information on more than 1,000 beaches, parks, conservation areas, and other waterfront properties open to the public and owned by government agencies and major nonprofit land conservation organizations. From the well-publicized expanses of National Seashore to the smallest footpaths and landings known only to the locals-the data viewer provides onscreen and printable descriptions about each property, including parking information, directions, photos, and a list of facilities.

 Hiking Trails in New England

Appalachian Trail Guide to the Appalachian trail
Bay Circuit Trail A permanent recreation trail and greenway corridor extending through 21 towns in Eastern Massachusetts and linking the parks and open spaces surrounding metropolitan Boston.
Cohos Trail The Cohos Trail is a 159-mile remote and wild trail in northern-most New Hampshire.
Long Trail The 270 mile Long Trail is the oldest long-distance trail in the United States. The Long Trail follows the main ridge of the Green Mountains from the Massachusetts-Vermont line to the Canadian border as it crosses Vermont's highest peaks. It was the inspiration for the Appalachian Trail, which coincides with it for one hundred miles in the southern third of the state.
Metacomet Monadnock Trail The MM Trail is a long distance hiking foot path that is maintained by the Berkshire chapter of the Appalachian Mountain club and other volunteers. It is approximately 117 miles from the Metacomet trail on the Connecticut State line to Mt. Monadnock in New Hampshire.
Midstate Trail The Midstate Trail is a scenic footpath located in Worcester County, 45 miles west of Boston. This 92 mile hiking trail extends from Rhode Island crossing the gentle hills of central Massachusetts and eventually connecting to the Wapack Trail in New Hampshire.
Monadnock-Sunapee Greenway The Monadnock-Sunapee Greenway is a hiking trail that links Grand Monadnock with Mount Sunapee in southwestern New Hampshire. It is nearly 50 miles in length, winding along the Monadnock Highlands that divide the Connecticut and Merrimack River drainages.
Wapack Trail The Wapack Trail is a 21-mile trail from Mount Watatic in Ashburnham, MA, to North Pack in Greenfield, NH, passing through sections of Ashburnham and Ashby, MA, and New Ipswich, Temple, Sharon, Peterborough and Greenfield, NH. It is one of the oldest interstate trails in the Northeast.
